Film Industry

I Recently found a video based on the perhaps future of the film industry and any issues and problems it faces.
The main issue raised is the release of free content and ileagal online streaming and film download, this had a detrimental effect on the industry since it creates a loss of profit. Despite this they are confident that the film industry will overcome these problems and come up with ways which can prevent and reduce this, we have already seen a start in this process with the introduction of 3D films which attract more and more people to the cinema.

Problems with the British film industry
U.k urban films are extremely popular in Britain with many releases of this genre a year and hundreds of thousands screenings a year making millions of pounds of each release which has been attracting more and more fans and an increase of interest from the film industry.
In Britain, as in most other countries, crime and ‘gangster films’ are a popular subject for films and have been from the very start.
However it seems that the majority of modern urban and gangster films have had recent publicity surrounding urban youth crime and black-on-black violence has been reflected in a number of films, including
·       Bullet Boy (2004), with Ashley Walters (of gangsta rap-inspired collective So Solid Crew) as the young ex-prisoner trying to go straight.
·       A young mixed-race gang featured in Kidulthood (2006)
These were the first instalments of films from this genre which both received negative criticisms, but also high popularity and success which then lead to even more interest from the British film industry. This caused a high number of Uk urban gangster films to follow.
·         Adulthood (2008) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhrJBUMxNMQ
·       1day (2009)
·       Shank (2010) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRE9Zzu655s
·       4321 (2010)   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aegHMkRzr-4
All these films created millions of profit for the uk film industry and even more interest nationwide and across the borders, which gave not only attracted the film industry but also the tv industry with the release of Channel 4’s ‘Top Boy’ In November 2011.

Up And Coming Film: 'Red Tails'

This genre has films have been received countless amount bad press saying that they promote black on black violence and crime and violence in London in general and that they glorify guns and drugs, and in 2009 1day was banned from all cinemas in Birmingham in order to avoid any gang violence, which was criticised highly by many. To an extent I agree since I have seen how popular these films have been since the majority of all teens have seen a few of these films, and I have personally viewed many of them, however I do not feel that they could have a negative influence on teenagers behaviour, but I definitely think they glorify the a gangster lifestyle which in its self may have a negative impact on peoples lifestyle. I think that in the future the age certificate for these films should be risen, and the fact that ‘Top Boy’ was shown on TV at a reasonably early of time could be argued was a bad decision. However I do feel that these films are an overall success to the British film industry and generate a high profit and popularity.
